Breast Reduction

A breast reduction is used to treat women with large breasts who want smaller breasts. In addition to decreasing the size of the breast, a breast reduction also will enhance the shape of your breasts by making them more round and lifted. Breast reduction surgery reduces the size of the breast, lifts the breast to a more natural position on your chest, and elevates the nipple as well. Women with breasts too large for her body is called macromastia. This can lead to medical symptoms such as back pain, shoulder pain and neck pain. These symptoms are treated with a breast reduction surgery. Patient's who have breast reductions are some of the most satisfied patient's in Dr. Alex Colque's plastic surgery practice. General Procedure

There are many different techniques for breast reduction surgery. Dr. Colque only uses the most advanced cosmetic techniques to perform this procedure. The newer techniques allow for more upper pole fullness and a better lasting result than the older breast reduction surgeries.  The specific technique that is best for you is chosen for each individual patient based on her needs and desires. In general, there are incisions in a circle around the areola (the darkened skin surrounding the nipple) and in a line down from the areola to the lower breast fold. Incisions may also be needed in the breast fold. Liposuction is usually used as part of the procedure to better define the breast shape and is included in the surgery. Dr. Colque uses the best breast reduction plastic surgery techniques for you to minimize the need for incisions and scars and maximize the appearance of your breasts.
