Alex Colque MD Plastic Surgery
Blog

Welcome to the Alex Colque Plastic Surgery blog. As part of our website experience, we would like to share our thoughts with you on certain cosmetic surgery topics that are pertinent to the Milwaukee and Waukesha cosmetic surgery community.

Celebrity Plastic Surgery

There has been a lot of buzz lately about celebrities undergoing plastic surgery. Although it is very common for celebrities, and people who are in media to have cosmetic procedures, the ones that get the most press often have uncommon results. An example of this is Renée Zellweger, who has been in the press lately for appearing to look different after allegedly undergoing cosmetic procedures. Although it is possible to change how you look with cosmetic surgery it is not very common. Dr. Colque, in his practice, prides himself on giving a beautiful and natural appearing result to his patients. His goal is not to change what you look like, just make you look like you - only younger, better and more beautiful. Dr. Colque often hears from his patients who are going to undergo a face procedure, “don’t make me look like Joan Rivers”, “don’t make me look like Kenny Rogers”, or “don’t made me look like (insert celebrity name here)”. Again, these are NOT the norm for results to be overdone or have an unnatural appearance. I encourage you to view the before-and-after photographs on this website to see for yourself the natural results that can be achieved with cosmetic plastic surgery in Milwaukee and throughout Wisconsin and the world. Dr. Alex Colque, M.D. is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.  To schedule an appointment for a complimentary consultation with Dr. Colque in Waukesha, Wisconsin, please e-mail us or call us at 262.781.9000 today!

Choosing a Cosmetic Surgeon

Choosing a surgeon to perform your breast implants, tummy tuck, facelift, liposuction, eye lift, or any other cosmetic procedure is a very important decision. As all cosmetic procedures are provider dependent, it is important to choose the best surgeon to achieve your aesthetic goals. While there are many providers in the Milwaukee and Waukesha, Wisconsin areas that are performing cosmetic surgery and procedures, many of them are not plastic surgeons. First and foremost when choosing a cosmetic provider you must take in account their training, experience, and safety. Unfortunately, many individuals performing these cosmetic medical treatments lack the required and adequate training to do so in a safe and effective manner. It is important to do your homework when choosing your cosmetic surgeon. Although some salons and spas may offer convenience, this should never outrank the expertise and safety of having a board-certified plastic surgeon performing your treatment.

Here at Alex Colque Plastic Surgery we take your safety and your results very seriously. Dr. Alex Colque M.D. is a board-certified plastic surgeon. Many cosmetic surgeons or providers may claim to be board-certified, but only the American Board of Plastic Surgery has overseen the training of plastic surgeons. We highly recommend that you identify which board has certified your provider and consider the amount and time of specialized training and experience your doctor has completed  to perform your procedure. All members of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons are board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. This is the only board certifying plastic surgery of the face and body that is accredited by the American Board of Medical Specialties. The American Board of Plastic Surgery has specific and rigorous requirements for its applicants to obtain certification. These requirements include graduation from an accredited medical school, completion of training from an accredited plastic surgery residency program, and passing comprehensive written and oral examinations.

There are common misconceptions that “non-surgical cosmetic procedures” mean “non-medical”. This is simply not true. The injection of medications such as Botox, or fillers such as Juvedrem, or Radiesse, or performing CO2 laser resurfacing requires intimate understanding of the patient’s anatomy as well as physiology to achieve safe and optimal results. It is all too common for us at Alex Colque Plastic Surgery as well as Skiin anti-aging lounge to hear stories of our patients have been treated at other offices (or even homes) by non-plastic surgeon providers who have had complications, or have been very disappointed results. We have always proceeded to take care of these patients with the expertise that they require to give the best possible result. In addition, Dr. Colque is not only the medical director of Skiin anti-aging lounge; his practice is integrated with all of the services Skiin provides. He is not simply a director “in name only”, his office is on location and he oversees all of the treatments at our state-of-the-art modern facility. This is in contrast to many facilities where physician supervision of non-surgical cosmetic treatments and procedures may be inadequate, unqualified or non-existent.

Choosing who to perform your cosmetic surgery or where to have your non-surgical treatments performed is a very important decision. To make sure your provider has these qualifications, please thoroughly research his or her certification. Dr. Alex Colque, M.D. is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.  To schedule an appointment for a complimentary consultation with Dr. Colque, please e-mail us or call us at 262.781.9000 today!
