Body Lift

A body lift is a procedure to reshape specific areas of the body that are sagging or have excess skin and fat deposits. Skin that has lost its elasticity, natural shape or firmness can be treated with a body lift. A body lift is effective in treating these areas when liposuction alone will not eliminate the excess skin and therefore not achieve the best result.

Areas commonly treated with a Body Lift:

  • Arm lift or Brachioplasty
  • Lower torso of belt lipectomy
  • Thigh lift
  • Buttock lift
  • Back lift

Reasons for considering a Body Lift:

  • Excess or sagging skin under the upper arm that hang away from the body.
  • Correct the sagging contour of the body due to weight loss or aging.
  • Sagging skin and fat in the areas of the arms, thighs, back or buttocks.

General Procedure

The procedure of a body lift varies depending on the desired outcome and the area lifted. Generally, an incision is made to lift and excise the excess skin and fat of the area desired. The incision and scar is placed in the most hidden place on the area to allow for the best cosmetic outcome. The new shape of the area is tighter, firmer and has a more youthful shape and contour. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia and can take between 2 to 5 hours depending on the area treated. More than one area can be treated or lifted during the same operation. Also, other cosmetic procedures such as breast implants, breast lift, facelift, and others can also be combined with a body lift. The area treated and procedures performed are determined by you during your consultation with Dr. Colque.

Recovery Process

Recovery from a body lift includes wearing a compressive or support garment after the procedure to aid in healing and to help decrease swelling. Specific instructions are given to each individual patient based on their procedure to help achieve the best results. Also, instructions are given to each patient to help in minimizing the scar from the body lift. Recovery time varies by patient and can depend on the number of areas treated. Some patients experience minor pain or soreness after the procedure that can be effectively treated with oral pain medication.
