Breast Lift

A breast lift, also known as a mastopexy, is a procedure to lift sagging or drooping breasts. As women age, they lose the elasticity of their breasts and this can lead to the loss of natural breast shape, firmness and youthful appearance. Pregnancy, nursing, and weight loss can also contribute to drooping breasts. A breast lift or is specifically designed to lift both the nipple and the breast itself up to the  normal position on the chest to restore shape, size and appearance of the breast. Breast implants can be used in combination with a breast lift to give more volume, fullness and cleavage to the breasts if desired. A breast implant can work in synergy with a mastopexy to give an added enhancement to your chest. Top cosmetic plastic surgeon, Dr. Alex Colque in Waukesha, Wisconsin uses the most modern and best techniques for breast lift surgery to give the best breast enhancement and a long lasting result.

Reasons for Considering a Breast Lift:

  • Sagging or drooping breast appearance.
  • Downward pointing or low nipples.
  • Your breasts have lost their shape.
  • Add firmness to breasts that have lost their volume due to pregnancy or aging.
  • Restore nipples and areolas to their more aesthetic point on the breast.
  • Recover the natural suppleness of the breast.
  • Reduce drooping excess skin of the breasts after weight loss.

General Breast Lift Procedure

A breast lift (mastopexy) is most commonly performed at a hospital or surgery center as an outpatient procedure while the patient is asleep under anesthesia. There are several surgical techniques available to lift the breast back to a more natural position on the chest. Dr. Alex Colque uses only the best and most advanced plastic surgery techniques for lifting breasts. These newer surgical techniques give you better and longer lasting results. The incisions on the breast depend on the amount of lift needed, but Dr. Colque routinely uses the least amount of incisions necessary to give your breasts the natural shape you desire. Some women with a small amount of breast sagging need only an incision around the areola. Dr. Alex Colque offers all of the newest, best, and advanced techniques in minimal incision breast lift surgery.

During the surgery, the breast tissue is lifted and moved to a higher, more natural on your chest. The nipples and areolas are also re-positioned to their correct correct place on the breasts. Lifting the breast and the areola gives your breast a more natural and youthful appearance. Sometimes, a patient may also desire to increase her breast volume and enhance the breast shape with a breast implant. The breast implant can be placed behind the breast tissue or under the chest muscle. Implants usually contain either silicone gel or saline. Surgery typically lasts about 1-3 hours. The best technique and incision placement will be discussed between you and Dr. Colque during the consultation.

Recovery Process

Most women will have minimal recovery needed for a breast lift and have mild pain. Patients may return to work in as early as a few days after the surgery. All of dressings and the surgical bra placed at the end of the procedure aid in the healing process. After the dressings are removed, movement of the breasts is minimized by wearing a support bra. Incision healing is best when all post-operative instructions are followed. Minor pain that may be experienced after the surgery can usually be treated with oral pain medication.
